Osmo UV-Protection-Oil is a satin, clear finish for interior and exterior joinery applications (it is not however suitable for flooring application.)

It is a natural oil based and micro-porous finish, will not crack, flake, peel or blister.
Can be used as a final finish after staining and is compatible with most good quality wood stains, prolonging the renovation time significantly. However, when used as a complete finish by its self on bare timber (min 2 coats) it blocks the greying process by UV-Protection factor 12 in comparison to untreated wood. For treatment of bare exterior timbers it is highly recommended to treat the timber first with Osmo W R Basecoat.
Very high coverage at 24 sq meter per litre per coat, minimum two coat application on bare timber and one coat on previously treated timbers.

Supplied in a clear finish only and in two formats, 410 and 420 Extra, for a tinted version of the 420 Extra see Osmo UV Protection Oil Tints

Q - Whats the difference between the UV 410 & 420 extra?

A - The UV 410 contains no active biocides, where as the UV 420 extra contains active biocides and therefore is only to be used in outdoor areas. The added active ingredients delay or minimize the risk of algae and fungal attack to the applied coating only not the wood. For effective protection, two coats are to be carried out. In accordance with the latest technical research, permanent protection against algae and fungal attack can not be provided.

Extra indicates the product contains active ingredients.

For other other coloured wood stain finishes see Osmo Natural Oil Wood stain.

Application by brush

Available in .75L and 2.5L

Osmo UV-Protection-Oil is water and dirt resistant. It is moisture regulating reducing swelling and shrinking of the wood.
Osmo UV-Protection-Oil has a large coverage (1L = 24m sq per coat), is easy to apply and easy to maintain.
Available in .75L and 2.5L containers.
Osmo UV Protection Oil 420 differs from UV Protection Oil 410 in that it contains active ingredients so is not suited for interior use.
To freshen up simply apply a further coat onto the dry, clean surface (no sanding ).
For added protection against blue stain, rot and mildew It is also advisable to treat all bare timber first with a wood preservative either Osmo W R base coat or Impra Prevent or for larger areas Clear Wood Preservative which is available in 5L and 25L containers.

Depending on the species of timber and the directional aspect, Osmo UV protection Oil could last up to 5 years or even longer before a maintenance coat is required, it is impossible for us to advise how long the protection will last as every situation is different we therefore advise you to read our guides on Exterior Wood finishing located in our blog tab which will help you to understand the subject a little more.

For more information on preparation and application methods, health and the environment see the technical data sheet in the Attachments Tab.

Goes on nice. Gives a lovely finish. Only time will tell if lasts .

Great product, I've been using this for seven years on my wooden garage and the shiplap timbers still look fantastic. Expensive and needs doing every year, but worth it

I have used this product several times, on both my wooden conservatory and wooden garage. It lasts about three years before it needs re-coating (one coat) and two coats is plenty (on the first occasion only). Can be very thick and I always add a little thinners to make it easier to apply.

My garage is 10 years old and still looks superb. It is expensive but is worth it

Very pleased with the result it leaves the colour of the wood looking very natural.

exellent product, exelent service quick delivery.

Great product and goes miles! Very good delivery service too.

Excellent product - easy to apply and good value.

I have purchased this product on three occasions now, it has completely stopped the bleaching of two pine clad buildings I have. I have tried wood preservers previously without success. Would recommend to anyone who like me does not like to see faded wood.

I bought it as an act of faith. Ask me again in 30 years.
