Fiddes Hard Wax Oil (clear & tints)
Overview
Fiddes Hard Wax Oil is a natural oil and wax blend offering exceptional durability and resistance, ideal for internal natural wood flooring, timber kitchen worktops, and other areas subjected to high wear. It produces a quick-drying, natural satin, water-repellent, tread-fast finish that will not peel or flake. It conforms to EN71-3 safety standards for toys.
To maintain or renovate, simply wash, buff, or re-apply, following the guidelines provided. For cleaning, we recommend using Woca Natural Soap or Blanchon Natural Soap for Oiled Wood Floors.
Preparation
Before applying Fiddes Hard Wax Oil, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from any previous finish. Sand the substrate with fine 150-grade sandpaper, like Mirka Avomax Antistatic 115 x 50m Sandpaper Rolls, or sanding discs, like Mirka Abranet ACE 150mm Abrasive Sanding Discs, and then remove all traces of dust.
Application
Follow these steps for optimal Fiddes Hard Wax Oil application.
- Ventilation: Ensure all areas to be coated are extremely well-ventilated during and after application.
- Testing: Always test on a small area prior to the initial application. No primer is required.
- First Coat: Stir contents thoroughly before and during use. Apply thin coats using a good-quality brush, roller or cloth, following the direction of the grain. Remove any surplus material immediately with a cloth, ensuring there is no excess oil. Leave to dry for 4-6 hours in warm, well-ventilated conditions.
- Second Coat: Apply as per the first coat, ensuring good ventilation. Leave to dry for 4-6 hours in warm, dry, well-ventilated conditions. Clean brushes etc with White Spirit.
When the surface is completely dry, a light buff will further enhance the sheen level.
Aftercare
For day-to-day cleaning, surfaces treated with Fiddes Hard Wax Oil can be dry wiped, swept, or vacuumed. Please note that oiled or waxed floors should not be cleaned with a steam cleaner or a steam mop, as these can degrade or strip the finish and potentially damage the floor.
To maintain or renovate the finish, simply wash, buff, or re-apply following the above application guidelines. We recommend using Woca Natural Soap or Blanchon Natural Soap for Oiled Wood Floors.
