Osmo Wood Protector is a clear primer/sealer for interior us, it is used to waterproof timber prior to the application of Osmo oils especially in rooms prone to dampness, and surfaces such as kitchen worktops.

Osmo Wood Protector is a clear substance based on natural oils and waxes and it is used to make timber water-repellent prior to the application of Osmo Top Oil or Polyx Oils, especially suitable for woods susceptible to blue stain in rooms prone to dampness, bathrooms, kitchens etc, a must use product on worktops.

It is a clear liquid with deep penetrating properties and is biocide free and absolutely safe on food preparation surfaces. When dry it is invisible and leave no residue or tell tail signs of application, leave to dry for a minimum of 24 hours before the application of the finishing coat.

Osmo Wood Protector is free of organic biocides makes it ideal for use on interior joinery and children's toys.

This product is also suitable for Exterior application.

Application - by brush or dipping, 1 generous coat only required applied to all sides if possible, allow to dry fully.

Coverage - 8.4 m2 per ltr.

Available - 0.75L and 2.5L

Used on a 50yr old Oak door, which I had stripped (with great difficulty) using Nitro*** and a chisel and a plane. I suspect that previous treatment had included some form of 'liming wax' finish, since the paint layers seems to include a chalky white layer over a dark substrate. My work with the chisel had taken the wood surface down to raw wood in places. I found that the Basecoat just would not dry (3 days plus in a well ventilated garage and it was still tacky and showed fingerprints in the surface - on advice from AGW I washed the residue of the base coat off with White Spirit - I had to do this 3 times, and use a scraper before I felt confidant enough to reapply the base coat and the Elan Topcoat(s), which so far seem to be OK - but I remain uneasy. I would prefer not give it a rating - since my experience was rated by AGW as 'exceptional' - but the system insists - I suspect that the Wax was the problem - so my rating is neutral.
